The Year 2 visit to Whipsnade Zoo
On 21st February, the Year 2 class visited Whipsnade Zoo to support their work in English and science. They attended a session led by an education officer which focused on sorting animals into groups-mammals, reptiles, birds. They used skins, skulls, shells and eggs to consider the features of animals in these groups. They also had the opportunity to touch a snake!
During the day, the children saw many different animals up close, including chimpanzees, penguins, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, crocodiles, cheetahs, elephants, lions and wild boars. They had lunch near the butterfly house and had great excitement when the butterflies landed on them. The children learned a lot about animals during the day.
