Collaborative work with Maids Moreton Hall Home
In September 2018 we embarked on a collaborative project with Maids Moreton Hall Care Home. The project is designed to be mutually beneficial to both residents and children, promoting positive inter-generational social interaction and supporting the well-being of both groups. In the Autumn term 2018, residents of the care home attended our after school board games club to play games with the children. The Year 2 children visited the care home to take part in a Remembrance Day themed art workshop. Care home residents were invited to our Harvest and Christmas rehearsals and we sang Carols at the care home in the lead up to Christmas. In the Spring term 2019, the Year 1 class attended a Shrove Tuesday event at the care home and the EYFS class visited to do some seed planting alongside the residents. The Year 2 enjoyed joining the residents for Easter crafts and some residents attended the school Easter service. In the Summer term 2019, the EYFS class took part in a treasure hunt with the residents, who helped by reading out the clues. We also invited the residents to our May Day celebrations. When the pandemic struck, we could no longer visit the care home however we made Christmas cards to show the residents we were still thinking of them. Now that the pandemic is over we have re-established face-to-face contact and have a number of projects planned for Spring and Summer 2023, including pizza making, flower arranging, reading, gardening, singing and dancing. We are very excited about reestablishing our collaboration with the Care Home and feel our children will benefit enormously from the opportunities this brings.
