Collaborative work with Gracewells Care Home
In September 2018 we embarked on a collaborative project with Gracewells Care Home in Maids Moreton. The project is designed to be mutually beneficial to both residents and children, promoting positive inter-generational social interaction. In the Autumn term, residents of Gracewells will attend our after school board games club to play games with the children. The Year 2 children will visit Gracewells to take part in a Remembrance Day themed art workshop. Gracewells residents have been invited to our Harvest and Christmas rehearsals and we plan to sing Carols at the care home in the lead up to Christmas. In the Spring term, we will attend a Shrove Tuesday event at Gracewells and there will be opportunities for the EYFS class to visit the care home for social interaction and activities, including a treasure hunt. We also hope that some of the residents will be able to talk to the children about their past lives as part of our history topics on homes, holidays and toys in the past. We are excited about developing this link and the opportunities it will offer.
