Collaborative work with Gracewells Care Home
In September 2018 we embarked on a collaborative project with Gracewells Care Home in Maids Moreton. The project is designed to be mutually beneficial to both residents and children, promoting positive inter-generational social interaction. In the Autumn term 2018, residents of Gracewells attended our after school board games club to play games with the children. The Year 2 children visited Gracewells to take part in a Remembrance Day themed art workshop. Gracewells residents were invited to our Harvest and Christmas rehearsals and we sang Carols at the care home in the lead up to Christmas. In the Spring term 2019, the Year 1 class attended a Shrove Tuesday event at Gracewells and the EYFS class visited the Care Home to do some planting alongside the residents. The Year 2 enjoyed joining the residents for Easter crafts and some residents attended the school Easter service. In the Summer term 2019, the EYFS class took part in a treasure hunt with the residents, who helped by reading out the clues. We also invited the residents to our May Day celebrations. We are excited about developing this link and the opportunities it will offer.
