May Day 2018
On a lovely, sunny afternoon in May, we held our traditional annual May Day celebrations. In the morning, a group of children from Year 2 learned how to do flower arranging with Mrs Watkins and Mrs Fenables from the village. In the afternoon, the May Day celebrations began. The May King and Queen were joined by the attendants and last year's May King and Queen on stage where they were crowned in traditional fashion. The Year 2 children opened proceedings, performing three different Maypole dances: The Barber's Pole, The Spider's Web and The Plait. The Year 1 and Reception children performed traditional country dances, followed by Year 2. At the end of the afternoon, the children invited their parents to join them for the last dance. We were very impressed with everyone's dancing skills! A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
