AVPSAA Cross Country Championships
On a Saturday morning in April, Mr Troup, Mrs Gibbs and myself took a team of children in Key Stage 2 to compete in the Aylesbury Vale Primary Schools Athletics Association Cross Country Championship at Ascot House in Wing. We were one of 18 Primary Schools to take part. The course was 1300m long for children in Years 3 and 4, and 1600m for children in Years 5 and 6, both with a tricky uphill section towards the end. The competition was fierce with lots of talented runners and approximately 100-125 children in each race.
All of the children that took part represented the school incredibly well and they all tried their very best throughout the course. One of our athletes achieved an impressive top 10 finish, and 3 more came in the top 20, which was quite an achievement. We also finished in 6th place overall in the girls' competition. We were so proud and impressed with the dedication and resilience all of the children showed. Thank you to the children who took part, Mr Troup and Mrs Gibbs for all their time and help, and to all the parents for transporting the children on a busy Saturday morning.
